This is a very “usual” recipe, nothing special about it in general. But I love it as I (like so many others) love Italian food and everything related to it!
I added a few special ingredients to make this recipe as unusual as possible. And of course, tasty! Ohh, and the measurements used in this recipe feeds an entire, very hungry family!! You could simply use half of everything for approximately 3-4 serves.
500 gr penne (or macaroni pasta, or actually, any type of pasta you want!)
300 gr bacon
250 gr frozen peas
3 table spoons butter
2 table spoons flour
250 gr grated cheese
500 ml milk
3 tea spoons English mustard
salt + spices of your choice
Cook the pasta according to the package instructions.
Cut the bacon into small pieces as you like and fry it into a pan until golden.
Meanwhile, into a sauce pan, at medium heat melt the butter. Add the flour and continue whisking until a paste is formed.
Gradually add half the milk and continue whisking. Add the mustard and half the grated cheese.
Continue whisking. Add the rest of the milk and the rest of the cheese.
DO not forget the salt, and spices (oregano, garlic etc)
When pasta is done, put it all in a big casserole. Keep the water in which you cooked the pasta in order to boil de peas for 3 min.
To the casserole add the bacon, cooked peas, and in the end, the sauce.
Mix all the ingredients together and put the casserole in the oven (220 C) for 20 min in order for all the ingredients to blend in together.
